From paint brushes to rollers, dust sheets to tools, tapes to abrasives and much more. It’s the complete solution to your decorating needs, and for ultimate performance.

The ProDec brand is owned by Rodo Ltd, a fourth-generation family business based in Manchester, UK that traces it roots back to 1926. Building on almost a century of Rodo’s experience and expertise, ProDec encompasses the largest and most widely distributed range of trade accessories in the UK and Ireland, available from over 3,000 trade merchants and outlets.

From brushes to rollers, dust sheets to tools, tapes to abrasives and more, ProDec is a complete solution for the trade professional from the start to the finish of the job.

We are passionate about our products and strive to support and evolve the industry through product innovation and diversity. We always keep a close eye out to ensure we meet the challenges of a market where – especially in paint – technology is constantly evolving.

1920 & 30s

Rodo founded

Joseph Brierley formed Rodo Ltd in Ashton under Lyne in east Manchester in 1926 with just three employees, selling brushes and brooms to the textile trade for which Manchester had become famous. As the young Rodo flourished and its reputation grew, his son and brother joined the business.

1940s

New markets

With the post-war decline of the textile trade, Rodo turned its brush-making expertise to the growing market for interior design and started producing paint brushes for tradesmen, beginning its long history with decorating tools.

1950s & 60s

Diversification

The mass production of emulsion paints saw demand continue to grow and Rodo constantly added products to its decorating catalogue, supplying more and more of their customers’ product ranges including rollers and dust sheets.

1970s & 80s

New horizons

The third generation of Brierleys joined and recognised the potential of a rapidly industrialising Far East. Rodo became the first decorating tools supplier to venture into China and forged new relations that would bring new opportunities.

1990s & 2000s

The rise of ProDec

The ProDec brand first appeared on decorators’ whites in the 1990s but in the mid-2000s Rodo brought together all its trade decorating tools under ProDec, which was re-branded with its now signature red and white artwork. Having moved premises more than once in the previous decades to keep up with growth, Rodo relocated to Droylsden in east Manchester.

2010s

Growing and growing

Continual product development and innovation over the next decade saw the ProDec range grow and distribution widen rapidly. Having operated out of successively larger single sites over the decades, Rodo opened a second warehouse to keep up with the growth of ProDec and of Blackrock, its sister brand of workwear and PPE.

Present day

The UK’s biggest trade brand

Today there are ProDec stockists in every town in the UK and Rodo has over 150 employees - including a fourth generation Brierley. The development of innovative products including the flagship Ice Fusion brushes and rollers enables ProDec to compete at the very highest level for performance and finish quality.

Giving back

As an almost century-old business, we have historical links with the communities of Ashton under Lyne and Droylsden, with much of our staff still being local to those areas.

Over the years we have sponsored sporting clubs for young people. Local rugby, boxing and football clubs have all been under the support of Rodo, usually initiated due to relatives of staff members participating in those activities.

In the past we have contributed to the annual Benidorm or Bust charity rally. We’ve also raised money for MacMillan Cancer Support and last year – closer to home – was focused on raising funds for Willow Wood Hospice in Ashton-under-Lyne.

I love the paint pick-up (on the Ice Fusion brushes) and the distribution. You very rarely get brush marks. They’re better than any other brush I’ve used. I’ve got loads of Ice Fusions in my kit.

The Ice Fusion are my favourite rollers on the market. They’re lint free, hold loads of paint and they don’t leave clumpy paint on your walls. Each roller sleeve comes in its own re-sealable packet to keep the wet roller from drying out. Simple but so helpful.
